Sustainability

North Rocks Preschool embraces sustainability and has a strong commitment to environmental education. We believe by empowering our future generations, we can help make a positive difference. Early Childhood is a great time to develop life long practices.

We believe that the aim of education for sustainability is to promote a sense of responsibility, respect, active participaton and enquiry. 

We do this by:

• Creating an environment that promotes a sense of wonder and a love of the natural environment
• Embedding in children the value of respecting living things and how each animal has a place in the enrironment.
• Creating in children and their families, a pro active attitude by showing them how they can make a difference. For example - saving water, recycling, switching off the lights when not needed.
• By empowering children to protect their environment. For example - watering the plants, observing but not disturbing animals, following paths rather than treading on plants, not littering.
• By encouraging family participation. This way children can follow up what they have been learning with us.

 Family Participation

Families are encouraged to support the preschool program by offering and collecting for us re-usable objects such as boxes and cards for our craft experiences and any natural found objects.
